Today I went up to Mariner’s Haven to mark the handover of this new Community Building to North Devon Council.
Devonshire Homes have constructed this building on behalf of North Devon Council, who themselves gained funding from Homes England.
This impressive building is not fully completed as yet and there is no public access, however it includes a social area, kitchen, changing rooms and parking.
It is only phase 1 of an ongoing development. In phase 2 there will be a football pitch, rugby pitch and a MUGA which is a Multi Use Games Area.
All of this will be delivered by Devonshire Homes.
Phase 1 is being handed over now because there was a tight timeline to access the funding and complete the construction, which in turn required collaboration from all parties, Homes England, North Devon Council and Devonshire Homes.
So well done to all for moving this ahead in such a timely manner to maximise the opportunity. Ilfracombe is growing! On this Mariner’s Haven development there will be 347 new homes, 38 of which are affordabe housing, so excellent news.
