The Great Torrington Mayor invited me to attend his Civic Service.

The morning started with a marching band parade through the town with local dignitaries and visiting Mayors. That led us to the St Michael and All Angels Church.

A mayor’s civic service is a traditional church service, often held at the beginning of a new mayoral year or as-in this case, when the diary allows. It provides a formal introduction to the community and other local dignitaries. It includes ceremonial elements, a blessing for the mayor and their term, and opportunities for community networking and reflection.

After the ceremony we were treated to a cup of tea and a slice of cake at the back of the lovely church.

Another great opportunity to promote Ilfracombe and continue to build on the community of towns in North Devon.
