Firstly Sea Ilfracombe is a FREE event! What’s free about it?

Well it’s free to you the public, there are no entry costs. You have free music and entertainment. Somewhere to take the kids for free… I could go on. It’s also run by volunteers for FREE!

What ISN’T free is putting this fantastic event on.

Think about it… We have to hire the car park, set up the stages, pay the bands, pay the entertainers, car parking, Insurance, Power, Trade waste, Security, and Event Licences.

All this comes to around £25000. So where does the £25000 come from? Well we have some great sponsors… Devonshire Homes, Fullabrook CIC, ITC, Samuels Solicitors, Webbers, Coombe Fisheries, William Pearce, North Coast Designs, Silk Crystal , Philip Dennis, Hele Bay Pub, Elan Homes.

We get some great donations from our local organisations like Ilfracombe District Lions, The Rotary Club Ilfracombe, Ilfracombe Compass Rotary, and Ilfarcombe Round Table.

However that only makes up about half of the £25000. The rest comes from fund raising (see the buckets that will be going around), bar sales here and now and the use of the REUSABLE cups.

This is how all of you can make sure this fabulous event is on again next year and for many years to come. It’s been going for 16 years so far! In reality, £25000 isn’t a bad price to put on an event like this, if you think about it. That price actually makes it feasible to do.

The reason we are able to do the event for that amount of money is because Sea Ilfracombe is a not for profit organisation that is totally run by volunteers.

Every penny goes back in to next years event. There is a die hard crew of 6 volunteers that meet, organise and fundraise all year round. They have been recognised in last years Pride of Ilfracombe awards and from Environmental groups and organisations  because of the reusable cups. BUT, let’s not forget all the other volunteers that come round with the buckets, clear up after it’s all finished and much more.
