I have watched the carnival each year and usually from a watering hole with a view.
This year I was proud to be a part of it.
I asked about the history of the Carnival and Charlotte kindly informed me the earliest documented evidence they have found is from 1930! So, I will take that and declare this Carnival 95 years old! Only 5 years to go to the Carnival Centenary! We have the greatest number of floats this year that I have seen in the last few years. It was 35 I believe. Add in the fabulous weather, unlike last year, and we had the makings of a Carnival to remember.
All the money raised will go to worthy causes within Ilfracombe.
I must just mention the volunteer Carnival committee and the sponsors, because without them none of this would be possible: Fullabrook CIC JME scaffolding Elan Homes, Ilfracombe Town Council Webbers Estate agents Mike Taxi Mike and Julie Turton SDM Pharmacy.
I’m looking forward to even bigger and better next year (if that’s even possible)
