This month I was pleased to represent Ilfracombe Town Council at All Things Morris   despite the weather it was great to welcome the teams of Morris dancers to Ilfracombe especially our visitors from California USA  I did say that the sun did shine in Ilfracombe and it did for a few short hours that day.

Sunday I again attended and presented various awards including the Mayor for the best Morris   there were an assortment of vehicles who attended and I would line to thank our Town Crier Steve Saxton for his support.  Unfortunately I learnt that my voice did not travel well, but I blamed this on the weather.

Grateful thanks to the organiser Events 4 Ilfracombe for organising this event and for inviting me along.

On Tuesday evening I was invited to meet the Essex Dance Company who were staying at the Golden Coast  Holiday Park at Woolacombe.  This was with Ann Doddy of the Rotary who presented them with a large cheque for £600

We were invited to judge a cooking competition where each lodge  – a total of 9 presented us with a meal that they had cooked themselves   To say we were well feed would be no exaggeration.  Each lodge presented us with a main course a dessert and in some cases a homemade drink which was delicious

We then has to decide who was 1st 2nd and 3rd.  This was not an easy task given the quality of the food and the presentation but we eventually narrowed it down to joint 1st, 2nd and 3rd

It was a privilege to meet such an amazing group of young people of various ages 6-18 and I enjoyed chatting to them and finding out how much they were enjoying their visit to our part of North Devon.

I would like to thank the Ilfracombe Rotary club for inviting me and also Ann Doddy for accompanying me on this occasion which I think we both thoroughly enjoyed  As did my husband who also sampled the delicious food and helped with the judging.

All in all I feel privileged to represent the people of Ilfracombe
